Planning your finances

We can accept your course fees in Pounds Sterling only and offer several payment methods.

Pay online

You can pay your £4,000 deposit* as secure online payment. Please note, you can pay any sum in one transaction.

* Please note if you were issued an offer for September 2022 intake requesting a deposit of £3,000, you must accept your offer before Friday, 27th May 2022 or the deposit will increase to £4,000. 

Payment cards

Students with a UK bank account or UK debit/credit card

Make a payment to your account for tuition or other fees. Third parties, such as parents or sponsors, can also use this method to pay on your behalf.

You will need your student number and date of birth to proceed to the payment page.

We accept all major credit and debit cards with the exception of American Express (which can be used via PayPal).

If an invoice is due for payment then it will show in the payment portal. Third parties will not be able to see it.

Banker's drafts

Banker's drafts should be made payable to 'Birmingham City University'.

Please ensure that you write your University Application Number and full name on the reverse of the draft. A courier should send the draft to our International Office address, detailed on your offer letter.


Obtain prior approval

When making any large payments to the University, we strongly recommend obtaining prior approval from your bank or credit card company to avoid potential delays in processing your transaction.

Credit/debit cards

We accept Visa, MasterCard and Maestro.

To pay this way, please come to the University in person as we can only accept credit or debit card payments in person.


Personal cheques

Personal cheques drawn on a UK bank account should be made payable to ‘Birmingham City University.

Not accepted

Post-dated cheques (cheques made payable for a date in the future) will not be accepted.

Please write your University Application Number and full name on the reverse of your cheque, which you should send by courier to the International Office address detailed on your offer letter.


Traveller’s cheques

Tuition fees can be paid at enrolment using Pounds Sterling traveller’s cheques.

Not by post

Please do not send traveller’s cheques by post.

These should be made payable to ‘Birmingham City University’, and you will need to countersign each cheque in the enrollment officer's presence.
